About Goodwood Theatre & Studios
Close to the heart of Adelaide, GTS is an inclusive, vibrant, and versatile award-winning performance venue that encourages artistic participation and supports the cultural diversity and future of South Australian arts.
Goodwood Theatre & Studios (GTS) is a dynamic, inclusive arts hub located on Kaurna land. Since taking ownership in 2020, Chris Iley and Simone Avramidis have transformed GTS into a vibrant venue supporting artists and communities. With a 215-seat theatre, two black box theatres (50 and 24 seats), gallery, bar, foyer and outdoor laneway VICTORIA LANE, GTS hosts diverse events, from professional productions to community-driven projects.
The venue plays a vital role in South Australia's independent arts scene, providing rehearsal and performance space, technical support, and marketing expertise. In 2025, GTS supported 40 local, national, and international companies during Adelaide Fringe, winning the Spirit of the Fringe Award and hosting 13 award-winning shows.
Nominated for the 2024 City of Unley Community Leadership Award, GTS continues to foster creativity, accessibility, and cultural diversity through its programming and partnerships. It is committed to empowering artists and audiences across South Australia and beyond.
Chris Iley
Director
Chris Iley is a highly respected industry professional with over 40 years of experience in venue management, producing, event coordination and production. Holding a Graduate Diploma in Arts Management, Chris has worked across festivals, theatre, and community events, always with a passion for emerging artists and inclusive programming. He has played a pivotal role in the transformation of Goodwood Theatre & Studios into a thriving, independent arts venue. His calm leadership, strategic vision, and technical expertise continue to support artists at every stage of their creative journey. Chris is deeply committed to fostering safe, accessible spaces for artistic expression, and his decades of hands-on experience bring invaluable support to the many local creatives who rely on the venue as a place to rehearse, present and grow. From theatre to outdoor events and community arts, Chris remains dedicated to uplifting the cultural landscape of South Australia.
Simone Avramidis
Artistic Director
Simone Avramidis is a passionate and collaborative arts leader with over 25 years of experience in Adelaide’s professional and youth arts sectors. As Artistic Director of Goodwood Theatre & Studios, Simone is known for her dynamic energy, inclusive approach, and commitment to supporting emerging and diverse voices. Her work spans directing, producing, event programming, performing, and youth arts facilitation. Simone’s creative leadership cultivates safe, expressive environments that foster empathy, social awareness and personal growth. Her belief in the power of storytelling, independent thought, and diverse perspectives drives everything she does. Simone’s commitment to community, health, and wellbeing is woven into every aspect of her practice. She continues to be a driving force behind GTS’s evolution as an inclusive and artist-led venue, and is widely respected for her ability to connect, inspire and empower both artists and audiences.

Steven Durey
House Technician
Steven Durey is a multi-skilled technician and creative with a background in live production, lighting design, and multimedia. After starting his technical training at TAFE, Steven worked for years at the Adelaide Convention Centre before moving into freelance work. His 2024 Fringe season at Goodwood Theatre marked a turning point, leading to regular employment at the venue. Steven has since worked across numerous school, community and professional productions, contributing lighting, design, operation and venue maintenance. Outside of theatre, Steven channels his creativity into music production, video editing and graphic design—skills he frequently incorporates into stage projects. Dedicated, resourceful and imaginative, Steven brings a modern, artistic edge to his technical work at GTS.
