Red Phoenix Theatre is absolutely thrilled to become a resident company at Goodwood Theatre & Studios.
We are very grateful to Chris Iley (Director) and Simone Avramidis (Artistic Director) for this tremendous opportunity to continue our mission of staging only Adelaide premiere productions in their awesome venue.
We look forward to sharing three exciting productions during 2026.

A PROMENADE OF SHORTS returns - bigger, bolder and at a brand-new home.
After two sell-out seasons and a chorus of “When are you doing the little plays again?”, Red Phoenix Theatre is bringing back its much-loved theatrical mini-festival A PROMENADE OF SHORTS for Season 3.
Across one jam-packed evening, audiences will experience nine brand new 10-minute plays from international playwrights, performed simultaneously in three different spaces within the Goodwood Theatre & Studios complex. Guided by roving characters, three separate audience groups will promenade between the venues, creating a playful sense of movement and discovery more like a festival than a traditional night at the theatre.
Previous seasons of A PROMENADE OF SHORTS have been showered with praise:
Stage Whispers hailed Season 2 as “engrossing theatre in delightfully sized bites” and “a clever and extremely entertaining night”.
BroadwayWorld declared that Red Phoenix had found “a winning formula”, and urged audiences to book quickly because it was “sure to sell out”.
The Barefoot Review dubbed the concept a “sizzling, unmissable, often hilarious winner”.
TINY PLAYS, BIG IDEAS
A PROMENADE OF SHORTS: Season 3 continues the winning recipe: nine sharply written 10-minute plays that leap from family drama to absurd comedy, from emotional gut-punch to gloriously silly mayhem. Twenty-nine performers bring to life an eclectic line-up of stories including:
· Finding out what Dr Johnson and Mrs. Thrale really got up to at tea
· A man unwittingly trapped inside a farce he can’t control
· Three girlfriends reuniting with more baggage than they remember
· Judith’s agonising attempt to choose the bottle of wine her husband truly deserves
· A family whose hospital Facebook posts might be either hilarious or horrifying
· Two partners grappling with their spouses’ dementia and the move to residential care debt counsellor who may have found the most ingenious, or dangerous, solution to money trouble
· Two men in a mysterious queue that keeps getting stranger
· and A family road trip that goes ridiculously, spectacularly askew
Every 10 minutes, the world changes: new room, new stories, new style. No two journeys through the night feel quite the same.
A FULL BLOWN NIGHT OUT
True to its reputation as Adelaide’s “premiere” theatre company, Red Phoenix continues its mission of bringing Adelaide premiere productions to local audiences, now from its new base at Goodwood Theatre & Studios.
The promenade experience is wrapped in a relaxed, social atmosphere. Between each trio of plays, audiences spill into the foyer and courtyard for live music, a welcoming bar, and roving characters who keep the fun going during the intervals. Before and after the show, the vibe is more like a courtyard festival than a foyer queue, audiences chat, compare favourites and soak up the buzz.
Artistic Director Libby Drake says:
“We invented A PROMENADE OF SHORTS as a way to keep theatre alive during COVID restrictions and it turned into one of the most joyful things we’ve ever done. Since then, people have constantly asked, ‘When is the next one?’ Season 3 is our answer: nine new plays, 29 actors, three spaces and a brand-new home at Goodwood. It’s a celebration of everything we love about theatre; variety, risk, laughter, big feelings and a shared night out.”
